Standards and Assessments

Standards and Assessments are an integral part of
effective instruction.

Standards specify what students should know and be able to do in the classroom, serving as goals for teaching and learning. Assessments are used to measure where students are on their journey to mastery in the standards. In Alaska, we are committed to academic standards and assessments that are tightly aligned to help inform parents, support teachers, and promote student learning.
